| Help Keep Ashland Carshare Alive! |

Ashland Carshare has been operating for one full year, and we feel a relatively successful one. We are going through a transitional period at the moment that due to some extenuating circumstances, has put us in a difficult financial situation. We filed an application for non-profit 501c3 status in October 2008. We continue to get strung along there and still have no word on our status. Not having non-profit status has diminished our ability to fundraise.
While usage and membership growth has been consistent and just slightly lower then estimated, we will need to continue to grow our membership to ensure long-term success. Our goal is 150 members by year's end. We are currently at 74.
Recent insurance rate increases and the deposit they require for an operation such as ACS have tapped Ashland Carshare's cash reserves. We expect to be awarded a sizable energy tax credit in early summer that will go along way toward carrying us into the future. But we just have to get there! We need your help to carry us over this hump. We need your help to make sure Carsharing remains part of a sustainable Rogue Valley transportation system and alternative form of travel. Regardless of if you use the service yourself, you still reap the benefits of fewer cars on the road, less congested streets, less carbon emission, etc.
